Native of the Outaouais region where she studied and worked all her life, Denise was in 2004 a senior lawyer with over 20 years of experience in both the private and public sectors in Québec and internationally. With a university degree in animation and mediation, she was also well known as a mediator and as a part-time professor at Ottawa and Québec universities.
From an early age, Denise has always valued the importance of communication and education for herself and others. As such, she worked for a period of 5 years as a psycho-educator during her college and university studies. Since travelling has always been a passion in Denise’s life, she then forfeited important job opportunities as a lawyer to travel to Europe and North Africa for a period of one year and work in vineyards in France and in a kibbutz in Israel.
Upon her return as a private practice lawyer, she privileged volunteer work as a judge for the internships of law students in a moot court and as a tutor for law students to sustain continuity for future generation.
In order to satisfy her quest to make a difference in the well-being of others and to be an agent of change, Denise has always been extensively involved in her community. Just to name a few:
- President of the Association des Femmes Diplômées des Universités
- Founder of the - REFAP - Réseau des Femmes d'Affaires et Professionnelles de l'Outaouais
- Member of different Board of Directors: - Centraide-Outaouais- CRSSO (Health and Social Services)-Centre Jeunesse Outaouais (Youth Center)
- Social and health representative on a socio-economic summit of the Outaouais region
Due to her dynamism and dedication to her work as well as her implication in different areas of life, Denise was repeatedly solicited as a participant or guest speaker in numerous consultation seminars, symposiums, workshops and other events for a wide range of organizations and business groups, as well as on radio and television.
Improving herself in all walks of her life has always been a top priority for Denise. To enhance her inner self, she has taken many personal development courses such as neurolinguistic programming, PRH, becoming a yoga teacher and participating in toastmasters. Her native tongue is French but she became fluent in Spanish, English and conversational Italian. This helped her to get acquainted with people she met all over the world travelling in America from Artica to Antarctica, Europe, all over Asia and Africa.
Denise is undoubtedly an energetic person, keeps her vitality and re-energizes herself through the practice of yoga and sports. She is a nature lover, enjoys trekking, white-water canoeing and camping. Name it. She does it!
Being nominated Business Woman of the Year in 2001 in the Outaouais region, Denise decided 2 years later at the age of 47 to leave everything behind to realize the dream of her life: travel around the world for an indefinite period of time. After 16 months of preparation to sell her belongings and an intensive experience of letting go, alone she left Canada in the beginning of 2004 without any date of return for this big adventure! Denise was responding to an urgent need to challenge herself, to abandon herself to destiny and choose her life in accordance with her intimate values, needs and beliefs.
Back only since a few weeks for a third time during a period of 5 years of travel , insights and adventure, Denise will entertain us about her experience and tell us how she did let go her fear of the unknown to flourish to the best of herself in order to realize her full potential, dreams and passion.
