You Deserve It! was founded in 2004 by three ladies wanting to make a difference in the East End of Ottawa - Janet Gray, Merredith MacLennan and Francine Rodrigue.
Based on a similar event that Janet had been attending for several years, she thought “why can’t we do this in the east end of Ottawa?” and the wheels started turning. Janet took the idea to a group of women in Orleans and received a positive response right away. Francine and Merredith immediately stepped forward and joined Janet in this wonderful project. Each with their own talents and passions, and with the support of many volunteers, facilitators, sponsors, community members, and their families, they created this annual special day for women, which has been since the inception, a wonderful accomplishment and tremendous success year after year.
In 2008, Francine took over the project under the umbrella of her company. As a passionate relationship builder, she continued making a positive difference and adding value to people's lives through this event. After taking part of You Deserve It! as a volunteer for a few years and wanting to fulfill one of her long time dreams, Rachel Leduc, from Beauté Venustas Beauty, assumed leadership of the conference in 2010. With the original vision of the three co-founders in mind (making a difference and inspiring women) and the valuable contribution from the many volunteers, Rachel and her team continue to deliver this wonderful day for women… just for you.
You Deserve It! is a great opportunity to showcase women, their passions, businesses and hobbies to other women. It also allows women a day to enhance their inner and outer selves at a reasonable price while enjoying a day for themselves. We hope to see you at the Next You Deserve It! event.
Just because…
You deserve it!

Janet
Gray
Co-Founder
Janet is a certified financial planner by profession - and also a planner by nature. The idea of having a women’s event in the east end had been brewing for a few years. In 2004, the pieces fell into place- and it all worked out wonderfully. While important to have a solid financial plan for the future, it is also important to give time for personal growth, enhancement and relaxation. The event is a perfect fit for the life philosophy that Janet follows everyday for herself and her clients.
Janet went to Carleton University (B. A.) and University of Ottawa (B.Admin.), and she and her husband have lived in Orleans for 30 years. She is also active within the community such as Board Member of the Orleans FESTIVAL committee, Chair of CARP Ottawa, Member and Facilitator of CFUW (Canadian Federation of University Women), and a member of many networking groups. In what spare time she can find, she enjoys reading.
Janet can be contacted at (613)834-6639 (613)834-6639, by email or at www.investorsgroup.com/consult/janet.gray.
Merredith
MacLennan
Co-Founder
Merredith is a lawyer with a busy downtown real estate practice. She obtained her B.A. from Dalhousie University, her LL.B. from the University of New Brunswick and her LL.M. from Osgoode Hall Law School.
As a hard working professional who spends too much time in the office and not enough time at play, Merredith knows the pressures and stresses of life and recognizes that women don’t always take time to treat themselves. Women are typically too busy taking care of everyone else to give themselves the attention they deserve. The You Deserve It! event is a fabulous opportunity for women to invest in themselves.
Merredith is a member of several professional associations and committees and frequently lectures on real estate law. She enjoys spending time with her husband, Doug, travelling, reading, attending concerts and theatrical productions and hanging out with her friends.
Merredith can be contacted by phone at (613) 231-8282 or by email.
